The Story of the Salon...

Owned and operated by Deb, the Salon has been at it's current location since 2010.  Prior to that, it began on University Drive in Amherst.  Deb runs in overdrive speed, and has done so since early on.  She entered into the Amherst school system in first grade, and proceeded to graduate early from Amherst Regional at the age of 16, where she then went onto studies at the University of Massachusetts for Early Childhood Education with advanced placement in Mathematics.  She knew something was missing, she decided at age 17 she wanted to be more creative and adventured into the Mansfield Beauty Academy.  Upon her graduation and passing for the State Board, she started local, and apprenticed for two years with Karen from the "The French Shoppe".  By the age of 21 Deb had purchased her own salon on University Drive.  She started off with two employees and eventually expanded to be home to ten stylists and three staff members.  In 2010, Deb needed a change of scenery... and moved the salon to it's current location on Main Street.  Deb understands first hand how therapeutic nature can be and what better place to have clients take in the views of the farmland located in the North East section of Amherst.

The Salon Vision...

Empower you to health and happiness!  All aspects of the salon and spa revolve around that.  Products and brands have been specifically selected for partnerships that only reinforce overall health and happiness from the ground up.  Deb developed her relationship with Paul Mitchell many years ago due to some of their core values, from non-animal testing of products, to the charitable work the brand does.  Styles By Deborah is classified as a Paul Mitchell Focus Salon.

Over the years, the salon has helped donate hair to "Locks of Love", as well as hair trimmings to help clean up oceans with oil spills.  Styles By Deborah has also hosted an annual cut-a-thon to give back to the local and national community.  Did you know that every haircut done in the salon, a 15% donation is made to St. Jude's Children's Hospital?  It doesn't stop there.  In 2019 the salon expanded to include the Wellness Spa.  Each detail from start to finish has been taken into consideration.  Have you ever noticed that some stylists after cutting your hair will use the blow dryer to clean off the hair particles left behind on the chair?  Well not here, energy conservation is even considered.  We strive on creating less waste, promoting less toxins, and increasing overall health and wellness.  Products used within the salon and spa are leading products which contain natural ingredients to promote healthier applications.  Another addition in 2019 was introducing the doTerra line within the salon for essential oil treatments and at home care.  Once again, thorough research was conducted and with the doTerra line, all products are grown in the ideal locations globally and are harvested responsibly creating the most pure and therapeutic grade oil.

Giving Back...

Each October, we raise money by featuring Pink Hair For Hope by selling hair extensions to raise money towards breast cancer research. Deb is a two-time breast cancer survivor herself and has personally raised over $7,000 for the Hampshire County Relay for Life since her diagnosis.
